Maroon 5 et Boy George au Caribana festival: un samedi soir explosif | 10 juin 2008

A 47 ans, Boy George a pris du poids, mais il n'a pas perdu sa voix. Le Londonien a assuré.

Pour son dix-huitième rendez-vous, le Caribana festival n'aura pour le moins pas eu de chance avec la météo. Humidité, boue et froid tous les jours. Seul le samedi aura évité le naufrage météorologique, car la pluie avait enfin décidé de s'éclipser pour laisser les festivaliers au sec. Tant mieux, car la soirée fut en tous points magnifique. Maroon 5, tout d'abord, aura littéralement fait chavirer les milliers de spectateurs agglutinés devant la grande scène. Il faut dire que la pop funky délivrée par le quintet de Los Angeles est remarquable d'efficacité et ô combien accrocheuse. Les tubes ont succédé aux tubes pendant plus d'une heure pour le plus grand plaisir d'un public conquis.

En clôture, sur la grande scène, on pouvait craindre le pire avec le retour de Boy George. A 47 ans, le garçon a certes pris du poids, mais il a gardé sa voix. Loin de sentir la naphtaline, son concert fleurait bon les retrouvailles. Entre une reprise bien choisie de Bowie, «Suffragette City», l'incontournable «Do You Really Want To Hurt Me» et quelques titres moins connus, le Londonien aura assuré un show impeccable. Le festival a encore de très beaux jours devant lui.
