L'ex-leader du groupe Culture Club, Boy George, a plaidé non coupable hier à Londres pour une accusation de séquestration.

Le jeune homme de 28 ans à l'origine de l'accusation, le Norvégien Audun Carlsen, prétend avoir été menotté dans l'appartement de la star âgé de 46 ans au cours d'une séance photo où il s'est présenté comme «modèle».

L'événement se serait produit au mois d'avril 2007. Le procès de George O'Dowd, de son vrai nom, doit débuter au mois de novembre.

THE 80s star Boy George admitted he did “imprison” a male escort - but will claim he had a “lawful excuse”, a court heard today.

The singer is accused of chaining 28-year-old Norwegian Audan Carlsen to a wall with home made hand cuffs at his east London flat in Shoreditch.

But his defence team say he will claim he had a “lawful excuse” which is yet to be disclosed.

George, 46, appearing under his real name George O'Dowd, was ordered to stand trial for false imprisonment after denying the charge when he appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court today.

He spoke quietly to confirm his name and plead “not guilty” to a charge alleging that he “assaulted and unlawfully and injuriously imprisoned and detained Audun Carlsen against his will” on April 28 last year.

The portly popstar turned DJ, dressed all in black and sporting strange red and green tattoos on his bald head, sat in the dock nervously chewing his lips through his 20 minute court appearance.

Judge David Radford asked the singer's barrister Adrian Waterman QC about the defence case saying: “The defence is lawful excuse?” Mr Waterman replied: “Yes”.

The judge added: “The imprisonment is admitted but it is said there was a lawful reason for the imprisonment?”.

Again the QC replied: “Yes”.

The singer now faces a five day trial starting on November 24.

But he stopped for a cigarette on the steps of the courthouse and posed for photographs with two female fans who had travelled to support him at his date in court before he was driven away in a black people carrier.

Russian Yulya, 31, who was there with a blonde German pal said afterwards: “He thanked us for coming. He knows us because we have been supporting him for years. He seemed ok.”

Boy George a nié avoir séquestré un homme de 28 ans à sa résidence l'an dernier. Jeudi, l'ancien chanteur de Culture Club a plaidé non coupable à des accusations de séquestration lors d'une audience du tribunal qui a eu lieu à Londres.

Audun Carlsen, un homme d'origine norvégienne, prétend que Boy George l'a menotté après qu'il se soit rendu à l'appartement londonien du chanteur. Il s'y rendait pour travailler comme mannequin pour une séance de photos. L'incident serait survenu en avril dernier.

Boy George est apparu à la Cours sous son vrai nom qui est George O'Dowd. L'artiste de 46 ans est libre sous caution. Son procès aura lieu le 24 novembre 2008.

Singer Boy George has pleaded not guilty to a charge of false imprisonment.

The pop-star and DJ appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court, in east London, accused of assaulting and imprisoning a male escort on April 28 last year.

It is claimed he chained escort Audun Carlsen to the wall of his home in Ravey Street, Shoreditch, east London.

The 46-year-old, who shot to fame in the 1980s with Culture Club, stood outside the court and smoked a cigarette before entering the building.

Dressed in black and wearing dark glasses, the singer was listed in court under his real name George O'Dowd.

During the 20-minute hearing, O'Dowd spoke only to confirm his name, state his not guilty plea and say he understood the terms of his bail.

The singer spent time talking with lawyers before leaving the court building, thanking fans who turned up to offer support.

He said only "no comment" to waiting press before leaving in a black Volkswagen people carrier.

O'Dowd was bailed to reappear for trial at the same court on November 24.
