BOY GEORGE has had his electronic tag removed - and announced: "In the words of John Inman, 'I'm free!' "

The '80s pop star turned DJ was ordered to wear the ankle device in May.

It was a condition of his release after four months of a 15-month jail sentence for assault and false imprisonment of a rent boy. A curfew has also been lifted.

George, 48, posted a picture of the tag on Twitter, announcing the "final countdown". He posted a second photo of his foot after it was taken off with the "I'm free!" message.
