ONE of Edinburgh's top hotels is to sell off its beds as part of a charity drive.
The Grosvenor Club, Grosvenor Street, will sell its 66 beds - many of which have been used by celebrities over the years.
Stars such as Boy George, Billy Connolly and Ronnie Corbett have stayed at the hotel, as well as numerous big names from the worlds of sport and stage.
For a minimum offer of £20 each, fans will be able to buy the beds their idols could have slept in while visiting the Capital.
Guy Hilton, general manager of the Hilton Edinburgh Grosvenor, said: "It's always good to have a bed someone famous might have stayed in. It's fun to be able to brag about and the fact that you are picking it up at a nominal price. There would be plenty of discussion over the dinner table about who might have stayed in it.
"The hotel has undergone an extensive refurbishment over the past 18 months and as part of this the beds and mattresses from the Grosvenor Club will be replaced.
"We thought this would be a good opportunity to raise cash for a range of valued local charities while promoting the value of recycling." The move comes as part of the hotel's ongoing £1.2 million refurbishment.
All money raised will be donated to the Hilton in the Community Foundation, which helps support young people across the United Kingdom.
The first of three sales will take place at the hotel on April 29.
