Halloween with Boy George

Though the actual Halloween holiday always falls on Oct. 31,
this year it is on Tuesday, which means quite a few big Halloween parties in
town will be held on this coming weekend, including the party at Arena
Entertainment called “Helloween Freek Party.” The highlight of this party will
be the DJ set by the androgynous ‘80s star Boy George. But despite being the
guest deejay star of the party, the well-known scandalous character will surely
try to impress the audience not so much with his music and newest DJ tricks, but
by his mere presence – after all, in that he can hardly fail.



Boy George
started his career in the ‘80s, when he sang in the band Culture Club and was
considered one of the most recognizable representatives of pop culture, both due
to his vivid image and controversial behavior. Doing everything to make sure his
name remained on everybody's lips, Boy George was never shy to boast his
relationship with gay prostitutes and openly praised drug abuse. His sexual life
and relationship with his former co-musician John Moss used to be more hotly
discussed than any current political or social issues.



Boy George's
popularity has decreased a lot in the past years, but just recently he gave it
quite a boost. In August, Boy George, called the police claiming his house had
been robbed. The police came, and didn't find any evidence of a break in, but
instead found a bag of cocaine on George's computer table. The singer was fined
a $1000 for wasting the police's time and was sentenced to 5 days forced labor
cleaning the streets of New York.



Before long, the 44-year-old glam disco
star took to the streets in a bright waistcoat, armed with a brush and plastic
bag. In vain he tried to wave off the army of idlers, fans, reporters and
photographers, who kept crowding around him, which made his punishment even
harder. Because of this the cleaning service bosses had to transfer the star to
another place where he would attract less attention from the media, but the
damage was done – the photos and footage of a star janitor appeared in the
papers, on the Internet and TV all over the world, and yet again, Boy George was
the name on everybody's lips.



With his glamorous reputation now stained,
Boy George demonstrates quite some strength of mind by coming all the way to
Kyiv to perform at a Halloween party and as its main freak too. Is it an attempt
to show if he's still got it? Come on, George, we believe you.
