Jean-Paul Gaultier fête ses trente ans de mode à l'Olympia le samedi 7 octobre 2006

L'ex-"enfant
terrible" de la mode française Jean-Paul Gaultier, aujourd'hui membre
éminent de la haute couture parisienne, a fêté en grande pompe samedi
soir ses 30 ans d'activité, s'offrant au passage son nom en lettres de
néon sur le fronton de la mythique salle de l'Olympia dont la façade
était tendue de velours rouge.

"Je fête mes 30 ans, parce que j'ai trente ans" a plaisanté le styliste
de 54 ans tout en remerciant "tous ceux qui l'ont soutenu" dans le
parcours qui a fait de lui, dès ses débuts dans les années 80, l'un des
couturiers préférés des célébrités, dont Madonna.

Au cours de la soirée, Jean-Paul Gaultier a lui-même joué les maîtres
de cérémonie, habillé d'un queue-de-pie, se montrant tour à tour au
côté des actrices Rossy De Palma, Demi Moore, Marisa Berenson, de la
chanteuse Janet Jackson ou de son confrère le style Kenzo Takada.

Ludique, Jean-Paul Gaultier s'est aussi essayé aux tours de magie avec
Suzy Menkes, la redoutable plume de la mode du "Herald Tribune", alors
que Boy George oeuvrait aux platines, devant quelque 3.000 invités.

Seul bémol aux festivités, la dizaine de militants anti-fourrure de
People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) scandant des "Gaultier,
boucher!" devant l'Olympia. Lundi dernier, alors que débutait la
Semaine de la mode dans la capitale, quatre activistes de la puissante
association américaine, dont sa fondatrice et son vice-président,
avaient été interpellés par la police après avoir investi le magasin
Jean-Paul Gaultier de l'avenue George V et n'avaient été relâchés que
mardi soir.
