Boy George at Bootylicious? Is he DJing? No. He is singing? Yes. But Boy George at Bootylicious - that sounds mad! True, but when we heard the demo tapes of his latest recordings we decided that this would be a laugh at the very least. To the background tracks that borrow from Reggaeton, Ragga and Rhianna’s “Pon De Replay”, these songs are outrageously camp, singing of gay boy desires and they deal with homophobia in Jamaican music in a way only Boy George can do.
Add to that flamboyant Jamaican DJ Jacasta Shadow and the result is quite surprising. As many of our customers have pointed out, George is just going back to his roots: behind his image there is a musician and some of his most famous songs are Reggae rhythms. Give the Boy a Hand!
